Epidurals – the Solution Doesn't Matter

A recent study  on epidurals concluded that what you inject may not be that important; ergo, saline may work just as well as steroids. Nicholas Bakalar breaks it down here. I wonder if what is happening during the successful injections is akin to what Helene Langevin's research is showing – that's it's the needle's interaction with the fascial net that triggers the beneficial effect. And in this specific case, if the solution doesn't really matter, then epidurals activate mechanotransduction. Hmm...
